Triple MVP Nikola Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' leg setback.
Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" knee injury while the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental collision with fellow Nugget Jones.
His teammate came down on the foot of the big man, and he immediately went down to the floor holding his knee.
The 30-year-old, who leads the NBA this season in boards and assists, had 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to sustaining the problem.
Jokic will undergo an scan on the following day to assess the extent of the issue.
"Right away, Jokic understood something was wrong," said Denver coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Any player who suffers an injury, it's tough to see, especially a player as special as he is. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, currently, I am more worried about him personally and the frustration of going through a situation like that."
