The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Launch products are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, turning the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.

Development on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in North America. Production will start right after the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents use skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Combat Emphasize Tactical Placement and Awareness

Battles stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This system is designed to favor coordination and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Thematic Wound System

The way health is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still move and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A publicly available Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It contains a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be detailed closer to the Kickstarter start date.
