Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of the year.

But the primary talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost possession far outside his box.

He ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario again, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.

One of those booing sessions truly irritated the manager.

"I heard some of our fans apparently jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Dane stated regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are behind one another going forward."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Ex- top-flight keeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally avoidable".

"I do understand the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily involved in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Italian national team Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

He stated after the match that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second score was a error of my own, I accept accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger mountain to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant top division goal of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for ages," he remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra opportunity. Then it was all about trying to make the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a positive feeling, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'

While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth at home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

They still have home fixtures against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to come before the close of the year.

Only one of those victories have come since Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the first was a deflected shot, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have suffered an additional game. Each fixture has a unique narrative, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit said. "He's taken a high profile role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
