The Blues head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on Friday that Cole Palmer is set to return for the team's vital Premier League fixture against local opponents Arsenal.

The young English international was unavailable due to a broken toe incurred after an unfortunate incident.

“He is ready to start and participate,” Maresca commented. “The whole team is delighted.”

In the current campaign, Palmer has featured in just four games in all tournaments, netting two goals.

After joining from Manchester City in 2023, he has recorded 45 strikes and 29 setups in 101 matches for the London club.

“He is our best player, we are happy he is back, we need to provide him with time to be 100% fit,” Maresca continued. “His past performances have been excellent and no doubt he is going to do great things for this club in the future.”

Everton have failed in their challenge against Idrissa Gueye's red card for a physical confrontation with fellow player Michael Keane during the squad's narrow win at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United's new acquisition Yoane Wissa has trained with his squad for the initial occasion since suffering a knee injury shortly after his arrival from Brentford in September.

Nottingham Forest's boss Sean Dyche is hopeful that Morgan Gibbs-White will be ready for the side's home fixture against Brighton on Sunday.

“We hope it is improving,” Dyche stated as he got ready to face the Brighton manager's side, who have secured seven points from their last three matches.

“It’s like a bad back, but a morning sort of injury, one where you just rest awkwardly or twist funny. So we’re not anticipating, at this stage anyway, that it’s too serious and it’s settling down already. So we’re hopeful that it’ll be right for the weekend.”

The defender was experiencing discomfort in his hamstring muscle after the comfortable Europa League win, but Dyche said the player “should be fine”.

Meanwhile, the full-back (thigh injury), the midfielder (thigh), the winger (hamstring), Chris Wood (knee), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (hip) are likely to miss out.
